Garden Transformation & Lean-To Extension
Tracy had been told by a number of companies that the garden simply wasn't possible — difficult levels, a stream running along the back, and a lot of spoil to shift. She also wanted a lean-to extension on the back of the house. We took the full scope on and ran it as one continuous project.
Project Story
The garden alone took roughly six weeks: we dug out a significant amount of spoil, set new levels, built the retaining walls, installed the fencing, and put in the drainage runs the boundary stream demanded. Getting the water management right was the part most builders had walked away from — without it, nothing else we built would have lasted.
With the retaining walls in, we moved onto the lean-to extension at the rear of the house. That took us about another six weeks, slowed at points by weather, but built without compromising the detailing. Once the structure was up we came back into the garden and flagged the patio area, working our way out from the house so every level tied in cleanly with the new extension threshold.
The finished result is a usable, properly drained garden and a lean-to that feels like it has always been part of the house — on a plot other trades had written off.
